What a two-parent family actually pays
Most co-parenting apps quote a per-parent price. A family needs two of them, so the number you should compare is the one at the bottom.
| App | Billing | Family total / yr |
|---|---|---|
| Braidly | One plan, both parents | $0 – $129.99 |
| OurFamilyWizard | Per parent | $299.98 – $599.76 |
| TalkingParents | Per parent, no free tier since Mar 2026 | $168 – $768 |
| AppClose | Free | $0 |
AppClose is free and we are not going to pretend otherwise — if your co-parenting is functional and you need coordination rather than conflict management, it may be all you need. Here’s where Braidly is worth paying for.
Pricing questions
Does each parent need their own Braidly subscription?
No. One Braidly subscription covers the whole family — both parents, both households — and either parent can pay for it. This is the main structural difference from OurFamilyWizard and TalkingParents, which bill each parent separately and therefore cost a two-parent family twice.
Can we split the cost between us?
Yes. Parents commonly split the subscription between them, which works out to around $6.50 each per month on the Standard annual plan. Braidly's expense tracker can hold the subscription itself as a shared recurring expense so the split settles alongside everything else.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
While Braidly is in private beta the app is free and no trial clock is running. Every new account starts with a 14-day full Premium trial and no credit card. When it ends, you either pick a paid plan or drop to the free plan — nothing is deleted and no card is charged automatically, because you never entered one.
Is the free plan a trial?
No. The free plan is permanent. It includes the shared custody calendar, basic messaging, up to two children, the handoff log, limited expense tracking and the kids' schedule view, and it does not expire.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, at any point, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Your records are not deleted on cancellation — you drop to the free plan and keep your calendar and history.
Do I need Premium for court records?
The private journal and legal hold are included in Standard. The full nine-section court export with the SHA-256 seal and read-only professional access are Premium features, along with the AI Tone Coach and AI Mediator.
What does Braidly cost compared to other co-parenting apps?
For a two-parent family: Braidly is $129.99 a year total. OurFamilyWizard bills each parent separately at roughly $149.99 to $299.88 each per year, so $300 to $600 for the pair. TalkingParents runs $7 to $32 per month per parent, so $168 to $768 a year for two. AppClose is free. All figures are from each company's public 2026 pricing.
