A tone score tells you it’s bad. A rewrite tells you what to say instead
Several co-parenting apps will warn you that a message reads as aggressive. That is genuinely useful the first time. By the twentieth time, at 11pm, having just read something that made your chest tight, a warning is not what you need — you need the sentence.
Braidly hands you the rewrite. Same request, same facts, none of the charge. “You never pick them up on time and it’s not fair to the kids” becomes “The kids mentioned being anxious about pickup times. Can we agree on a consistent time that works for everyone?”
The second version is more likely to get you what you actually wanted, which was a consistent pickup time — not the satisfaction of the first version.
The AI suggests. It never sends, decides or moderates
Nothing is sent on your behalf. Nothing is blocked. Nothing is edited without you seeing both versions side by side and choosing one. If you want to send the original, you send the original — Braidly’s job is to make sure that was a decision rather than a reflex.
The AI Mediator works the same way. It only joins a thread when a parent explicitly invites it. It takes no side, makes no ruling, and does one thing: redirect the conversation back to what the child needs this week.
Every message is a record, whether or not you ever need it
Messages are timestamped when written. Once legal hold is active, neither parent can edit or delete a message — and neither can Braidly. There is no “deleted for everyone”, no editing yesterday’s message to say something else, and no argument about what a screenshot actually showed.
If it ever goes to a hearing, the whole thread exports as part of a single, complete record sealed with a SHA-256 hash, so any alteration after the fact is provable. Most families never need this. The ones who do need it very badly.
Common questions
Does the AI Tone Coach send messages for me?
No. The AI Tone Coach only suggests a rewrite and shows it next to what you wrote. You choose which version sends, and you can always send your original unchanged. Braidly never sends, blocks or edits a message on its own.
How is this different from OurFamilyWizard’s ToneMeter?
ToneMeter scores the emotional tone of a message and warns you when it reads as aggressive. Braidly’s AI Tone Coach goes a step further and drafts the calmer version for you, so you have a sentence to send rather than only a warning that yours was bad.
What is the AI Mediator?
The AI Mediator is a neutral assistant that either parent can invite into a thread when a conversation is escalating. It takes no side, makes no ruling about who is right, and redirects the discussion toward the child's practical needs. It only appears when explicitly invited.
Can my co-parent delete messages?
No. Once legal hold is active on an account, messages, journal entries and expenses cannot be edited or deleted by either parent, and Braidly cannot alter them either. The record you can see is the record that will export.
Can I use Braidly messaging if my co-parent has not joined?
Messaging needs both parents, but the rest of Braidly works solo. Your journal, expense records, custody calendar and document vault all function with one parent, and everything is timestamped from the day you write it — which is what matters if you later need to show a pattern.
